Asian Congregation

In May 1995 Rev. Alwin Samuel, at the request of Mr Rocky Vincent Khan and Mr Terrence Joseph started the St Andrew’s Methodist Asian Congregation. This was because there was no Urdu speaking mainstream church congregation in Slough. The membership had gone up and down over the years, but has been consistent under the care of Rev. Hazel Forecast.

At the present it stands at twelve regular families. The service is conducted in Urdu on Sundays at 4:30pm and Holy Communion is on every second Sunday of the month. Very recently we have started a Sunday school for the children called “Young Disciples”, which is run by Tracy Dass. The Asian Congregation is anticipating starting a youth group and bible study group in the near future.

The congregation has held a very popular and successful music competition in the past called “Aik Sham Masiha ka naam”,this was an annual event which has been a very successful medium in which to unite local Asian Christians to congregate together to praise the Lord together.

St Andrew’s Methodist Asian Congregation Mission Statement:
We are here:
• To Worship, praising God in our own language.
• To grow in wisdom and learn God’s word from each other.
• To grow in faith and spiritual strength.
• To Love each other, supporting each other in good times and in bad.
• To welcome whoever comes to join us in worship and fellowship.
• To spread the Good News of Jesus further.
• By talking to others about our faith.
• By serving in the community in association with other Christians and with those of other faiths and none.
