Young Church

St Andrew's has a Young Church for children aged 3 ~ 14 where they have the opportunity for worship & learning at their own level. The children leave the main Sunday morning service after the first hymn & move into the Wesley Hall for worship together before they divide into smaller groups for age-related activities.

Our youngest group are the Climbers catering for 3 ~ 7 year olds & they use the Scripture Union SALT material.

The Explorers (7 ~ 10 year olds) & the Pathfinders (11 ~ 14 year olds) both use the ROOTS materials based on the lectionary as followed in the adult services.

The aim of Young Church is to help all the children to learn more about the gospel message and life of Jesus, gain Bible knowledge, have experiences which increase their spirituality & develop their personal faith by having a relationship with God.

Young Church members return to the main Sunday morning service near the end to share with the adults what they have been doing. This helps us all to feel that we are part of the whole family of St Andrew's.

On the first Sunday of each month Young Church members stay in church for our 'all-age' service which is sometimes a parade service for our uniformed organisations.

All the Young Church leaders have been appropriately checked in line with the Methodist Church Safeguarding Policy.
